Description
Panerai was founded in 1860 in Florence, Italy by Giovanni Panerai. Originally a watch shop and workshop, it became famous for supplying precision instruments and dive watches to the Italian Navy in the 1930s and 1940s. Iconic models like the Radiomir and Luminor were developed for underwater missions, featuring patented luminescent materials for visibility. In the 1990s, Panerai transitioned into the luxury market, and today it blends naval heritage, bold Italian design, and Swiss watchmaking expertise.
Inspired by Panerai’s historic instruments for the Italian Navy, the Submersible line was developed as a true professional diver’s watch. The 1950 case design pays homage to vintage Panerai models while integrating modern engineering, making this reference a bridge between tradition and innovation.
