The beginning of the Rolex journey starts in 1905, when Hans Wilsdorf, at the age of 24, creates his own company in London specialized in the distribution of timepieces. In 1929, Rolex innovates the first waterproof wristwatch: the “Oyster”.This new innovation featured a hermetically sealed case that protected the movement from any water destroying it. In 1931, Rolex invents the first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor. This system is still today the heart of every modern automatic watch.
