Description
The Squale Master line dates back to the early 1960s, when founder Charles von Büren set out to create watches capable of supporting the growing sport of free diving. The original Master models were renowned for their pressure resistance, reaching 100 ATM even in the 1960s. In 2024, to celebrate Squale’s 65th anniversary, the brand introduced the Master Titanium 120 ATM — the first Master crafted entirely from titanium. This anniversary edition pays tribute to Squale’s heritage while pushing technical boundaries, offering enhanced durability and comfort for modern divers.
Squale was founded in 1959 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, by Charles von Büren, a passionate diver and watchmaker. Initially producing cases for other Swiss brands, Squale quickly established itself as a specialist in professional diving watches. Its watches were worn by legendary divers such as Jacques Mayol and supplied to military units worldwide. Squale became known for its pioneering case designs, including the famous “von Büren case,” which set new standards for underwater resistance. Despite challenges during the quartz crisis, Squale endured, later being acquired by the Maggi family, who had long distributed the brand in Italy. Today, Squale continues to honor its legacy by producing robust, Swiss-made dive watches that blend heritage with innovation.
