Description
The Superman line was born in 1963 as Yema’s flagship professional dive watch, quickly recognized for its patented bezel‑lock system and robust 300m water resistance. Over the decades, it became a symbol of French tool‑watch engineering, trusted by divers and explorers alike. The Superman Slim reinterprets this legacy with a thinner case profile that enhances comfort while preserving the model’s hallmark durability and underwater reliability. It represents a modern evolution of Yema’s most iconic design—balancing technical heritage with refined everyday wearability.
YEMA was founded in 1948 by Henry-Louis Belmont, a graduate of the National Watchmaking School of Besançon. By the 1960s and 70s, YEMA had become France’s largest watch manufacturer, producing over 500,000 watches annually. The brand gained fame with models like the Superman (1963) for divers, the Rallygraf for motorsport, and the Navygraf for military use. Ownership shifted over time — from Matra/Richard Mille to Seiko — before returning to French hands under the Ambre Group in 2009. Today, YEMA remains an independent manufacture based in Morteau, France, designing and assembling watches in-house, with a strong focus on heritage-inspired tool watches and in-house calibers like the CMM.20.
